Join us at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 21, at New Dominion Bookshop (404 E. Main St.) for the July Charlottesville Reading Series event, featuring poet Mary Brancaccio, prose writer Zak Salih, and poet Chapman Hood Frazier.

Mary Brancaccio is a poet and teacher. She is the author of the poetry collection Fierce Geometry. Her work has appeared in Naugatuck River Review, Minerva Rising, Edison Literary Review, Rattle, and other journals. Her poem “Tea with Ann” was featured on Major Jackson’s podcast, The Slowdown. Brancaccio’s poetry is included in several national and international anthologies, including Writing the Land: Northeast; Writing the Land: Maine; Veils, Halos and Shackles: International Poetry on the Oppression and Empowerment of Women; and Farewell to Nuclear, Welcome to Renewable Energy (Japanese/English bilingual edition). She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Brancaccio graduated from the University of Virginia. Her website is ghostgirlpoet.com.

Zak Salih is the author of the novel Let’s Get Back to the Party. His fiction has appeared in Fairy Tale Review, Epiphany, The Florida Review, Foglifter, and other publications. Chapman Hood Frazier’s The Lost Books of the Bestiary, a finalist for the V Press Poetry Awards, contains work published in VQR, Southern Poetry Review, and South Carolina Poetry Review, as well as work nominated for Pushcart Prizes. Co-poetry editor of The Dos Passos Review, he’s also guest-edited The Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review and completed a PhD from UVA. He’s taught at the Young Writer’s Workshop, James Madison University, Longwood, Murray High School, and other institutions. His “Conversations” with contemporary poets appear in The Writer’s Chronicle, Shenandoah, and Agni Online. A resident of Rice, Virginia, he currently co-manages The Bellfield Farm, a BnB and writer’s retreat.
